Every student we teach is responsible for maintaing a social studies interactive notebook. In the front a course syllabus and table of contents should be in place and up to date.
Your child should be able to explain to you exactly what we did in class for the day by looking at their newest page in their notebook and explaining it to you. If they can not do this, then they need to either get with a class leader or come in at 8:15 in the morning for a quick tutorial "catch up" session.
Class Leaders are fellow students with the highest grade point average that are trained to assist students that are absent or need to be caught up with missing assignments.
8:15 a.m. sessions can be attended by any student that attains a pass from us in their agenda the day before.
Parents are also welcome to come in and meet with us as well at 8:15 to discuss and understand the assignments better in order to assist their child.
*Never ask your child if they have social studies homework. Instead, ask them to show you their social studies notebook and have your child explain to you the current page in their social studies notebook. Parents, feel free to have your child bring home their social studies notebook every night and explain to you and show you what we did in class in 15 minutes or less. If they can, then they are usually on track. If they can not do this, then a red flag shouold be raised.
Parents in the past have had their child bring home the notebook for a check every other day or twice a week.
This is the quickest way to check to see if your child is on track with our class.
The textbooks are brand new and the online resource for them are
