Feb 29th

We spent most of the class period reviewing combining like terms and how to solve the word problem that was on the back of last night’s assignment.

Extra Credit assignment due this Friday, March 2.

Feb 28th

Students took the Unit 7 Test today.  There was plenty of time for the students to begin the Practice C assignment; students were able to work with their teams the last part of the class period.  Students are to complete BOTH SIDES of the assignment.  I also gave students time to work on their extra credit assignment after they completed the test if the students wish.

Feb 27th

In class today we went over the answers to the questions in the Slices & Shadows Reference book as well as the Unit 7 Study Guide students were given last Friday.  If time allowed I gave the students hints on the answers to the assignment What is My Solid? which if turned in tomorrow with correct answers will give students extra credit on their Unit 7 test.

Feb 24th

Today students were able to work together in their teams to complete 24 questions about the concepts we have be working on this week.  The students were able to use Versa Tiles to check their group’s answers.  Students had the majority of the period to complete this assignment.  At the end of the period all students received a copy of the Unit 7 Study Guide.  The Unit 7 Test will be next Tuesday, Feb. 28^th.

I have extended the due date of the Extra Credit assignment to next Friday, March 2.

Feb 23rd

Several students told me that they needed another night on the assignment Problem Solving (both sides) so I gave it to them.   

In class we continued to discuss the difference between 2D and 3D figures.  I showed the student two websites that are at the top of the blog that will help them understand some of the 3D figures.  We also discussed the vertical and horizontal cross-sections of the 7 different shapes that are in their Slices & Shadows Reference book.  With my help they make a table that should have been copied in the notes section of their book, which will help them answer questions 1 & 2 on each page of the reference book.

I have extended the due date of the Extra Credit assignment to next Friday, March 2.

HW:  given an extra night on Problem Solving assignment (both sides) & need to complete answering all questions in their Slices & Shadows Reference book.

Feb 21st

Students started working on their Slices & Shadows Reference books.  Students were told that they only will receive one copy of this reference book so if they loss it they will have to print out another copy from this blog or create one using their own paper.  Students were given pictures of the 3D shapes and nets which need to be drawn, traced, or cut & glued onto the right page in their reference book.  I gave them class time to complete this task, if they did not finish it in class it needs to be completed at home.   

I have extended the due date of the Extra Credit assignment to next Friday, March 2.

Feb 16th

Today we took the test over Unit 6.  When students finished the test, they were to start on the Challenge assignment.  On the back of the assignment are two extra credit problems that can add points on to their Unit 6 test.

Also students were informed, yesterday, of an assignment they may do to earn extra credit.  This will be the only extra credit assignment for this quarter!!  All students started on this packet Monday when I was out sick (Ready to Go On?: Variables & Algebraic Expressions).  This packet will be due next Tuesday, Feb. 21^st.  It will be graded for accuracy along will a grade for turning it in on time.

Feb 14th

Went out the results of Unit 6 quiz from last week and worked out 2 problems from the assignment More Practice w/ Variations.  Students that got less than an 80% can earn an additional 10 points on their quiz grade if the show work & get the correct answers on the assignment More Practice w/ Variations.  Students that got less than a 90% get the same deal but instead of 10 points they will earn 9 points.
