SPACE NOTES: Remember the spaces from bottom to top spell F A C E. This means the bottom space (space 1) is F. The next space up (space 2) is A. The third space (space 3) is C. The top space (space 4) is E.

LINE NOTES: Remember the lines from bottom to top are E G B D F. We use the sentence "Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge" as a mnemonic device to help us remember the letter names for the lines on the staff. This means the bottom line (line 1) is E. The next line up (line 2) is G. The middle line (line 3) is B. The line second from the top (line 4) is D. Finally, the top line (line 5) is F.

Download Intermediate Pitch Identification Treble Clef - This worksheet is made up of notes that move in stepwise fashion. When a note moves stepwise it is moving to the next closest note either up or down. Notice that when the note goes up you move forward in the alphabet A B C D E F G A B C D E F G. Notice how you restart the alphabet back to A once you have hit G. If the notes move downward in stepwise fashion you move backwards in the alphabet G F E D C B A G F E D C B A. Now notice that when you move downward and get to A you restart the next note at G. TRY NOT TO USE your mnemonic devices F A C E and Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge to figure this worksheet out. Instead ask yourself the following questions.
1. Is the note stepping up? If it is remember to move forward in the musical alphabet.
2. Is the note stepping down? If it is remember to move backward in the musical alphabet.
Download Advanced Pitch Identification Treble Clef - This worksheet does not have any letters written in to help you out. Some notes move by step (to the next closest note) and some notes skip, jump, and leap around (move farther than the next closest note). Try using your mnemonic devices for lines 1-6 and the stepwise method for lines 7-10. If you complete this worksheet accurately you are a Treble Clef Pitch Identification Master!!!
STAFF EXTENSIONS - LEDGER LINES
You may ask, are we limited to only the pitches on the treble lines and spaces? The answer is, of course, no. You can draw notes higher and lower than the staff. Download the worksheets below to work on extending the notes beyond the staff.
Download Treble Staff Beginning Extensions - This worksheet shows you that the note just below the staff is D and the note just above the staff is G. Both of these notes are Space Notes.
Download Treble Staff Intermediate Extensions - This is our first introduction to Ledger Lines. Ledger lines extend the staff so we can sing notes that are both higher and lower than the staff. Notice that we have added the pitch A on the ledger line above the staff and we have added the letter C on the ledger line below the staff. Remember, when the pitch goes up, you move forward in the alphabet. When the pitch goes down, you move backwards in the alphabet.
Download Treble Staff Advanced Extensions - This worksheet adds four more notes and two more ledger lines to our staff extensions. Below the staff you will notice A and B are added. Above the staff we have added B and C. Remember, when the pitch goes up, you move forward in the alphabet. When the pitch goes down, you move backwards in the alphabet.
