All-State Auditions 9-13-07

All-state auditions are coming soon.  They are Saturday, 13, 2007.  Below are the posted times for the singers participating in the audition process.  Some of the voice parts and grades are mislabeled.  When you go to the audition please let the judge know if your grade or voice part is incorrect.  You will need to bring the student number indicated to the audition.  As there are only two weeks until all-state auditions it is imperative you come before or after school to work with Mr. Grevstad to prepare for this audition.  Plan on arriving at least a half hour early.  Get lots of sleep the night before and drink lots of water.  An apple can also help your voice as well.  I've attached a map to this page as well. Disney Trip

The $50 deposit for Disney must be turned in tomorrow Tuesday, September 11th if you would like to have your child attend the field trip.  There are no exceptions to this.  the only reason we are extending this date is because students were confused with the fundraising date.  I've attached the letter that was sent home with the students last week.

All-State Chorus 7th and 8th grade

Students have the opportunity to audition for the GMEA All-State Chorus in October.  The All-state chorus is an elite group of middle school singers from all over Georgia that learn 6 songs and spend 2 1/2 days working with world-reknown conductors on these songs.  They then perform these songs in front of a large audience on Saturday of that week.  These events are recorded and are incredible experience that your child will take with them their entire life.  The audition requires students to sing scales, a song, tonal memory, and sightreading.  It is very competitive and only advance singers make it into this elite group. Last year we were pleased to have two students from Cooper make it in.  First round of auditions are October 13th.  The audition itself costs $15.  Students are to turn in this money by Wednesday, September 12th if they would like to try out for all-state.  I will start preparing them the week of September up to the first round of auditions.  If your child passes the first round they will be required to do a second round of auditions on January 19th.  The second round is much easier as all it requires is for your child to be prepared on pre-selected.  Again, I will help to make sure they are ready.  Last year our 2 students received seals of honor for getting over 98% accuracy in the second round.  If they pass this last round they  will be allowed to go to the All-State event in Savannah, GA.  Parents are expected to transport and chaperone their child and are in charge of room and board for their child.  All-State chorus is February 21-23rd.

Middle School Men Field Trip

The middle school men will have an opportunity to attend a field trip in October.  Download the following document and discuss with your child if they will attend it.  Forms need to be returned no later than September 21st with the payment.
