First Day of the Last Term

This school year is coming to a quick end. Before we know it, this 9 week term will be over. I think we have a great term ahead of us. Below you will find links for any of the documents I passed out in class today. These are due back to me tomorrow for a total of 3 100's. Every day they are late, 10 points will be knocked off of the grade. In tomorrow's class, you will be taking a pre-test. We will begin our first project on Wednesday. Please make sure you come to class prepared with your pencil and your art journal. Our first art journal check will be this Friday.

WELCOME BACK!!!

It is great to see everyone again. I hope you all had a wonderful and well rested break. I am really looking forward to a lot of new adventures in art this term. I think we're off to a great start. Let's just keep it up. If you need another copy of any of the sheets we passed out in class, you can click on any of the following links for access to them. The syllabus (grade specific), the art classroom rules, and the student record are all due back to me tomorrow for a 100%. After that each day that they are late, 10 points will be deducted. Please have your art journals in class no later than this Thurs. Once we complete our pre-test, we will be beginning our first project.

As we count down the days in the 2nd term

In each grade level, be aware of the rapidly approaching deadline to get all projects and make up work turned in.  All projects should be completed and turned in by Tuesday. In every class we'll be doing our tournament review on Wed. This is when we'll be going over all the questions and answers that you can expect to see on our final exam.

8th grade: Our final is scheduled for Friday, December 21st.

7th grade: both periods expect to take your final on Thursday, December 20th. Fifth period, keep in mind your powerpoint presentations should be ready to present in class on Monday. For those of you who have asked, you can click on the following link to get another copy of the assignment sheet.

6th grade: We'll be taking our final on Thurs, Decmber 20th.

All grade levels: Next week we will be fitting in sometime to evaluate all the projects you have completed this term. Every student will need to choose one piece (your best piece) to leave with me for the school wide art show. This is not optional! All other artwork can go home at the end of this term. Artworks left with me for the artshow will go home in May.

As we start the 2nd nine weeks...

I am so happy to see some familiar faces and to meet some new ones. This should be a pretty great term we have lined up ahead for us! In today's classes we discussed behavior expectaions and classroom procedures. All sheets that went home today are due back to me tomorrow for a grade of 100. Each day they are late after that, 10 points will be knocked off the top of that grade. That means the last possible day to turn these sheets in for a grade is Tues. Oct. 30th. In tomorrow's class we will be taking our pre-test. No sweat! Remember, it is not for a grade. It just lets me know how much I need to teach you this term vs. how much you already know! The first day your art journals are expected to be in class is this Thurs. We will be beginning our first project then. You will need your art journal for storing your information that you will see again on our final exam.

Regular Art Club Meeting

I know things have been a bit off schedule lately. Yet, we will have art club as regularly scheduled tomorrow. Try to make it your goal to complete your clay mask in our time in the morning. Hope to see you there!

Environmentalists are the BEST!!!!!!

Environmental club is off to a fantastic start this year! I think we have more people involved than ever before. You guys are awesome!

Thanks for everything you do to make a difference in our school and our community! Remember to join us Thursday for our regular paper recycling pick up.

I really enjoyed our activity outside today. As of lately, we've been using our five senses to help us better observe our environment. I thought today was great because we used our sense of hearing. Just think, those same sounds surround us everyday, yet how many times do we stop to hear them?!?!?!

This Week in Art Club

We'll have art club as usual this week.  If at all possible, we should all plan on completing the clay maks we started a couple of weeks ago.

Also, I am looking for some volunteers to help me make signs for Officer Herman. This week is public safety Appreciation Week. What a perfect time to tell her how much we appreciate what she does for us in keeping us safe!

This Week in Art!

We are steadily winding down the first term of the schoolyear. That means that if you have any make up work you need to turn in, it is due to me by no later than Octbober 15th.

We are on block scheduling this week, so we will only see each other every other day. However, we do get longer class times than usual.

Eighth graders: (Good Luck on your testing) In class, we will be beginning our unit on architecture. Make sure you remember to bring in some cardboard boxes from home. We are also in need of newspaper.

Seventh graders: We will be painting our time capsules. We will also begin to learn about the art of Japan.

Sixth graders: We will begin a tessalation project. If you did not finish your packet we worked on in class last week, you can use any extra class time to try to complete it.

6th graders just completed a project on the study of colors and their relationship to each other.

Be on the lookout for porgress reports coming home on Wed. Any progress reports signed and returned to me will earn an extra classwork 100 for your student.
