Final Language Arts Project- The Magazine

Our last big project will be a class magazine.  Students will be assigned dfferent articles and areas to cover for the magazine.  There is a need for fancy paper! Students can donate packs of card stock laminated paper for 10 points.  This paper is available at Staples, Office Max, or any other office supply store.

I would like for every student to have a final copy, but it can get expensive.  If any parent has an economical source for printing color copies please let me know.  Each magazine will be at least 30 pages front and back. Otherwise, we will look into seeing how much Kinkos charges for the publication.

Students, think about the area you would like to work on. Here are the sections and positions available.

  • Co-Editor in Chief
  • Sports Editor and 2 additional contributing writers
  • Advice Columnist
  • Feature Editor with one additional writer
  • Horoscope Editor
  • Review & Critic Editor with 2 additional contributing writers
  • Beauty and Fashion Editor- with 5 additional contributors
  • Celebrity Columnist (2)
  • Food Editor with one additional writer
  • Travel Editor with one additional writer
  • Home Decor and Entertaining Editor with one additional contributor
  • Cover Designer
  • Table of Contents
  • Advertising Editor
  • Comic Strip and Game Editor (2)

Can we pass the CRCT? Yes, we can!

All classes will continue to practice different areas covered on the test.

We will have Spelling 22 this week with the quiz on Thursday 04/16 and take a break from spelling until after the testing.

We will begin reading the novel Monster by Walter Mosely next week. A class copy will be used to read during class.  Students may purchase their own copy to use if they desire. Review questions and quizzes will be given periodically.
