Holiday Projects
Students are to use their imaginations to complete both the "Pack Your Bags" and "Oldies But Goodies" holiday projects. If you need another copy, please print from the attached file.

Students have received their guidelines and some suggested points of inquiry to begin their journey toward completing these projects. As long as the basic guidelines are covered (especially showing how proportions and percents are used for "Pack Your Bags" and statistical representations are used for "Oldies but Goodies"), students will be graded based on the attached rubric.

I suggested that students use maps to decide on the country and the cities within them to which they want to travel. Although students have been given suggested ideas to explore, students may take a whole different perspective toward completing these projects. The following are questions posted in class to help stimulate "food for thought":
"PACK YOUR BAGS" - determining the cost (what is their currency?)
- What do you need to travel outside the U.S. (your "country" may not be a U.S. state or territory)?
- How will you get there?
- How many places will you visit?
- Where will you stay?
- What will you eat?
- What will you buy?
- How much will it cost to bring those things back to the U.S.?
"OLDIES BUT GOODIES" - investor perspective or visitor perspective suggested
- What type of museum is it? (must be your museum, not already in existence)
- How many employees do you need to operate it?
- How much does it cost to operate (utilities, fees, insurance, etc.)?
- How much revenue do you expect?
- What will it look like (layout of galleries/displays)?
- Tours?
- Hours of Operation?
- Who will manage?
- What is their experience?
If you would like to come to your student's presentation, please email me. Once we return and schedule presentations, I will let you know, via your student, the date and time of his/her presentation. If you have additional questions, please feel free to leave me a message. I will be traveling over the break, but I will call home to retrieve my messages on occasion. Thank you for your support in helping your 6th grader cross over to the big leagues! Happy Holidays!
