Week 2 has begun and we are into full swing of learning. Narrative reading and writing is our focus for 4 1/2 weeks. To gain excitement for this activity, the students were shown a variety of pictures by Harris Burdick. His portraits are mysterious settings with captions underneath. Each child observed six different pictures and will decide that as their narrative piece of writing. The caption under each picture must be incorporated within their piece. (Introduction, body,or conclusion). This writing assignment will last about two weeks, and the students will be taken through the writing process before the final piece is due. Along with that, elements of narrative will be taught so the students can understand how to add those elements into their writing.
