Welcome back to another school year! I am so excited to be teaching 8th grade this year. I have some of my former 7th grade students as well as new students this year. Before the school year begins and we start talking about syllabi, parent letters, handouts, etc., I thought I would share a picture from my summer vacation. My daughter Melissa and I went to France for 10 days (Melissa is 24 years old and she is in graduate school at Cornell University in New York). We had so much fun. The people in France are very nice and not at all rude like some people seem to think. This is a picture of Melissa and me in front of the Eiffel Tower. (Double-click on the picture to enlarge it). If you did anything really fun this summer, please tell me about it.
Check my blog frequently, because I usually post homework assignment on my blog weekly. This will come in handy if you are absent. I also download class handouts to my blog if they are downloadable (is that a word?).
Do students ever check out my blog? I hope so... But to find out I'm going to do a little contest, so here it is: In France, when the waiter/waitress brings your food to the table, they always say "Viola" (pronounced "vwa-la"). So the first person from each class period who comes to me and says "Viola" will get a treat from my treat jar. This has to be before Thursday, Aug. 16. I hope I hear "viola" on the first day of school! Keep checking my blog.
